Ready To Jump!
Howdy! It's crazy that the next email I write is going to be from the land of the Book of Mormon. I didn't believe when people told me that in the MTC, the days feel like weeks, and the weeks feel like days. But it is true. Our teacher asked us who is ready to get out in the field the other day. And it was interesting because all of the people who are good at Spanish are scared to get in the field. And yet all the people who are not that good at Spanish are ready to go out. I am defiantly ready to go out. I feel like I should be more scared, but I am just not. I honestly don't feel that prepared at all, but that doesn't make me nervous. I'm an on the job training kinda guy.
Anyway this week was pretty boring. I have been doing the same thing for six weeks now, so there is not a lot to talk about. This week was a little sad. I had to say goodbye to Owen and Ethan. But it was fun spending time with both of them. Me and Owen killed it on the basketball court. For the first time in both of our lives we were on the same team. And let me tell you, it's fun playing basketball with someone who can jump 7 feet. Owen left early in the week, so we hugged and said see ya in 2. Then Ethan came up during the weekend! He humored me by going bowling twice! Once during my afternoon break, and then again that night. We took Ryan the second time. Ethan bowled a Turkey though, so it was worth it! On Sunday me and Ethan said our goodbyes. And that is it for 2 years. I'm not going to lie, it is a lot easier being the one leaving though.
I would like to end this email with a story about my MTC experience. As you know I didn't like the MTC. Well at least at first. About half way through the MTC I found this scripture, Psalm 20:7. It says, "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we remember the name of the Lord our God." This scripture changed my mindset. I was frustrated with the MTC because I wanted to be a great missionary so bad, and I didn't feel like I was achieving my super high expectations. This scripture showed me I needed to relax. Being a good missionary is simple. If I wake up every morning, follow the rules, work like Grandpa Hansen, and put my trust in the Lord, I will be good. He is the one that has the plan. All I have to do is trust that he is right, and do what he asks. That's how I will be an effective missionary. Anyways I hope you all have a great week. And just remember, when your optimistic the evil one can not deceive you.
