Chapter 2: Tuxpan

Image
Life has improved infinitely for me! This week has been filled with ups and downs. But yet life is amazing, it's hard to explain. My new comp is Elder Barney, he's a white boy who has been out the same time I have. His Spanish is really good, so that's how we have been getting around out here. He loves working hard, so it's been really fun grinding the work with him. He also corrects me on every little thing I say wrong in Spanish. At first it was irritating, but now I love it. My Spanish has already  improved a lot this week. With that being said  I have still been feeling the language blues. Comparison is really the thief of joy, but yet it's really hard to see Spanish click for literally everyone else but me. I really have been so humbled here... it's the worst, but also good. Anyway enough moping, on to the good!     TUXPAN IS SICK! I love it here! Life has improved 100% for me. Tuxpan is literally so pretty, I have a river and the beach in my area. Me and B...

The Good Work

Hey guys! It sounds like the wedding was amazing! I loved seeing the pics on facebook, and also you guys swing dancing on the flor showing everyone up. I truly am happy for Owen and Liz!      This week was really good other than being sick till Thursday. I started getting selfish again because being sick here just made me want american things. But then I read a talk called the 4th missionary, and it really bugged me at first, but then I really enjoyed what it had to say. I thought of you Dad, because it talks about searving with your whole heart, and letting what you want to do go, because thats how we grow. And I feel like thats what you have been doing as bishop, finding New ways to magnífy your calling. And so put all of my wants away, and have been really focusing on the spirit of the Lord, and its guidence. It has been amazing the Lord really does guid me, I am just trying to be better at following the guidence. Its pretty scary not knowing spanish, and trying to be ...

A Mexican Baptism

Buenos, buenos! Everything is going good in the land of the Book of Mormon! This week was a little rough at the start, because I was getting over the flu, but after Wednesday life started picking up!      As I said I was getting over the flu, and that kinda through me out of missionary mode, so I spent the rest of the week trying to get back into it. The Lord saw my efforts and blessed me with something I will be eternally gratefull for. On Thursday it was Hermana Lunas(my crazy, but amazing land Lord, whos deffently thrown a couple sandles in her day.) Birthday. So she wanted us to eat with her. I was pumped! I just got done with weird mid day split, so me and Chan where busting our booty to get to lunch. But Chan stoped our taxi early, so I was confused, I thought we where eating at the house. NO! We go into this restaurant, and there are 4 other elders waiting for us sitting by hermana Luna. They where past Elders who lived with Hna Luna. But the restaurant we where at...

Lazy Missionarys Are The Worst!

Buenos, buenos! This week was incredibly difficult, I am not going to lie. There was just a lot things that really tested me and my patience. But it all counts, the good and the bad. So we will call it a week of growth.  Anyway, on Tuesday we went to teach Carlos, and there was new guy at the Shop. He started talking to us about our church, and said he was a member, but inactive. And then he turned into a Nehor, and started Bashing hard on our church, and said all kinds of bad stuff. And then he told Carlos not to be baptised! But to make matters worse the crazy member at the Shop walked in and started debating the Nehor with false doctrina. I have never been more frustrated. Because I could understand what was going on, and I knew the answers to the Nehors dumb questions, but I couldn't speak. It was really difficult. Me and Chan were both upset that night. But the next day Carlos was fine, and still wanted to learn more, so thats all that matters. I also went on splits this ...

Elder Holland, And Milagros

Buenos, buenos! Things are going good in the land of The Book of Mormon! I have seen so many Milagros( miracles) this week! But first I want to share a cool experience I had on Monday.     So me and Chan finished up P day early for the first time because we had family home evening. FHE was with the solid family that made us ties, and there inactive brother, and his family. The whole thing went really really well! But while Chan was talking about faith, I was overcome with a feeling so puré, I couldn't describe it if I wanted too. As I looked around at this family I was filled with so much love for this family. It didn't matter that I didn't know exactly what was being said, or that I Honestly don't know this family super well. But looking around at them, seeing how happy they were made me emotional. I was filled with puré joy, and love. I have had a lot of happy moments in my life, but nothing comes close to how I felt that night. It was a pretty neat experience.    ...

Everything In Mexico Is Hot!

Buenos dias! This week was good, but felt kinda wierd. I don't really know how to explain it. Also Happy Birthday yesterday to my mom! She is an Angel from heaven, so If you see her around, wish here a happy birthday for me! Love ya mom!     And my subject to this email is so true! Everything here is either hot or spicy. It's really funny. The weather app here constantly says 30°, I don't know what that is to you guys, but the humidity is anywhere from 70 to 90%. It's just hot! Also all of the food here is hot. I either have steaming rice, or chicken that hurts to touch. And you know that when I take a bite it's going to be spicy. I love it! The randomest things here are spicy. Like I bought a bag of regular nacho cheese doritos, and they were spicy. It's amazing! The guys at the car Shop buy doritos, and then put hot sauce on them. It is soo good! I'm going to have to carry around hot sauce when I get home, because I love the Spice here. Elder Chan gets tea...
