Elder Holland, And Milagros
Buenos, buenos! Things are going good in the land of The Book of Mormon! I have seen so many Milagros( miracles) this week! But first I want to share a cool experience I had on Monday.
So me and Chan finished up P day early for the first time because we had family home evening. FHE was with the solid family that made us ties, and there inactive brother, and his family. The whole thing went really really well! But while Chan was talking about faith, I was overcome with a feeling so puré, I couldn't describe it if I wanted too. As I looked around at this family I was filled with so much love for this family. It didn't matter that I didn't know exactly what was being said, or that I Honestly don't know this family super well. But looking around at them, seeing how happy they were made me emotional. I was filled with puré joy, and love. I have had a lot of happy moments in my life, but nothing comes close to how I felt that night. It was a pretty neat experience.
On Tuesday we had a devotional by Elder Holland! I Was really looking forward to it, and it did not disappoint. I can give a 3hour talk on what I learned from him, so for times sake I will highlight 3 of my favorite things. The first thing I really liked was he said, "Tell me how the first 3 hours of your day go, and I will be able to determine how the rest of your day will be, probably even how the rest of your mission will be, maybe even how the rest of your life will go." I loved this, because it is so true! Another thing he said was, " Missionaries don't take this gospel as seriously as they should, we have a message that can change lives, you have to fight for that family's salvation!" This really hit hard, because I really have been pretty passive with this message. So I have been trying to be a lot more bold, and straight forward. And the last thing I'll share from his many wise words is this. He said, " when you are set apart it is not just a physical setting apart, you are litteraly set apart from your old life to live a higher life. There is no going back after your mission, you can not go back to the person you were." This was my favorite thing, because it is how I have felt for a long time. I want to grow a ton on my mission, I want to be a better versión of myself, who doesn't reconize pre mission Luke. Elder Holland really filled me with the spirit. His words really showed me I have a lot of repenting to do, and I need to take this work more seriously. So I started practicing his teachings, and rode my spirtual high for the rest of the week, a week of miracles!
Here are where the miracles come in! On Saturday we were going to teach Charlie/Carlos( I never know what he wants to he called). And we ran into him not at the Shop, so there were no distracciones! But we a had good talk, and taught him about the word of wisdom. He then told us he is clean, and he doesn't even drink coke! He also loved the fact that me and Chan have the power of God. He thought the priesthood was really cool. We then talked about baptism, and I got a little lost in the spanish. But Elder Chan and Charlie were picking a day for us to teach Charlie again. We then left after that awesome lesson. And on the walk home Elder Chan casually told me we just put Charlie on date to be baptised! After the news I was freaking out because I was so happy. When I was lost in spanish, Chan asked Charlie if he wanted to be baptised and he said yes!! They were not planning a lesson date, they where planning a baptism date! Nov 20. It is going to be a battle to get Charlie in the water. So please keep him in your prayers. We are going to have to fight for that man's salvation! But it was a true miracle.
Then on Sunday we had another miracle happen! We were teaching Kristal, and her mom. And usually we are there for 3 hours. No joke, 3 hours! Because Krisals mom does not stop talking. Our lesson go like this, " what do you think about faith?" "Well basketball is my favorite sport, because of the......." for 3 hours. Anyway during this lesson Kristals mom did not say anything off topic! And it was a Fire lesson, the spirit was definitely there. But we then invited both Kristal and her Mom to baptism, and both said yes! Its amazing how God can soften the hearts of people, he is truly increíble. So on Nov 20 hopefully we will have 3 babtisms! But again it is going to be a battle to get these people baptised. So please pray for them! Another scary thing is transfers are on the 23 of Nov. So if they are not baptised before then, me and Chan might not be there for there baptism. So I will except the will of the Lord, if he thinks they're not ready. But I am praying for the strength, and spirit, to help them enter into the holy water.
I honestly am so blessed and love life out here! I love you guys so much and can feel your prayers. Please remember, God is good always, and if you keep the commandments you will prosper in the land!
