Baptizing Zuri!
This week was honestly pretty slow. We pretty much put all of our focus on the baptism for Zuri. But it went well, so mission accomplished!
But Tuesday we had the interview for Zuri, And it was a bit scary. She showed up with a lot of food which was awesome, because we just ate while she was being interviewed. As I mentioned before, she has a wild past, and this is why I got scared during the interview. A regular interview lasts about 10-15 min. But not hers, she was in the office for an hour! Me and Brimhall had to anxiously wait the whole time. But she passed! So it was all worth it. We also had Fabian's interview too! He passed but there were some issues that we wanted to resolve before he got baptized, so we pushed his baptism to next Sunday.
I also had an experience that was absolutely terrifying while I was cleaning the baptismal font. I was cleaning, and I usually open the lid to the drain, because it's just easier to clean that way. So I opened the lid, and as I was walking back to the door, out of the corner of my eye I saw a HUGE TARANTULA crawl out of the drain! Me and Brimhall both screamed like little girls, and I bolted out of the font! We killed it, but we both have been on edge ever since. I hate spiders!!!
ZURI GOT BAPTIZED!!.
Nothing ever goes smooth on baptism days, the devil is a jerk. The morning of, we went to turn on the boiler, and of course it was having issues. It was dumb, because the day before we turned it on no problem. We had to deal with that in the morning, but luckily the bishop of the other ward helped us out. Then before church this guy came up to us, and asked us to give his son a blessing. Brimhall said ya, and then told me I was doing it. I was a bit nervous, because my Spanish sucks, and giving blessings stresses me out. But I just told him if he had faith God would bless him with his desires. It was pretty cool though, even though my blessing was simple, the spirit was really strong. And that made me happy. After we went to meetings, and after meetings finished we had to do all of the baptism stuff/ prep Zuri, because she gets anxious easily. So we are running around doing last minute things, and 3 people ask us if we can give them blessings. It was irritating, because we had so much stuff to get done, and literally anyone else in the room could give them a blessing. So we gave them all blessings, and got everything ready for the baptism. An 8 year old kid was getting baptized too, so pretty much all of the ward was there. The baptismal went smoothly, Brimhall baptized, and the first councilor was going to confirm her. But he didn't show up. He was literally just in the office doing other stuff. So they all looked at me to confirm her and my heart literally dropped. I did not want to do it. Even if it was in English I would have liked time to think of what to say if nothing came to my head. But Brimhall and the others forced me to do it. So with weak legs I walked up, put my hands on her head, and gave the worst blessing I have ever given in front of all of my ward. I just wanted to hide after, but I couldn't. I have never been more embarrassed in my life. It was not a very fun experience. But another soul entered the kingdom of heaven, so I guess that's all that matters.
That's been my week. It was really cool to see Zuri get baptized. She really is awesome and wants to be better. She started balling after she got baptized, because she was clean. And after the meeting she just kept saying that she feels so calm now. The spirit is such a cool thing. God is good, and his work is so amazing! But I hope your weeks all go well!
