Mexican Bathrooms Are Not Made For Mexican Food
Hola everyone! This week was pretty slow to be honest. But still the ball is moving, and the finding has begun. I have been reading the Saints book, and wow that book has really made me realize how important my job is. I will never take the Book of Mormon for granted again. The work that Joseph put into getting that book out is crazy! I have so much compassion on Joseph, he literally is just doing everything he can to start up the church, and yet everyone is always so harsh towards him, out of the church and in the church. Still people wonder if he was a true prophet. It just makes me laugh because people freak out and leave the church because he looked into a hat, but yet Moses killed an Egyptian for no reason, and then God ordered him to commit genocide on the Canaanites. So please just leave him alone, Josephs a hero. Anyway I'm done with my Ted talk, on to the week.
Elder Sanderson had to go up to Xalapa this week and grab his gringo card, so I was on divisiones until Tuesday night. It was honestly really nice, because I was in a trio, and one of the other Elders was in my area a transfer ago, so he just guided me to all of the people they were working with. Also I have been sticking to my white washing process, and it has worked out really well, we had 5 lessons in one day, so that was awesome! The ball is rolling here in Plaza Verde. The only problem is that none of them want or have time to go to church. The amount of times I have asked people if they could just sacrifice 30 mins for God has been uncounted. Poco a poco. Mexicans love to commit to things, and then just not follow through. And also a funny thing about here is that if it is kinda cold, Mexicans won't come to church. It blew my mind, but on Sunday a couple of weeks ago this girl asked on the ward group chat if they could stream church because it was cold, and she didn't want to get out of bed. At least she was honest. So the rain has not been helping us in our mission.
The people in this area are definitely not as friendly as my other two. Like When I say hi, no one really responds, where in my last area everyone was friendly. There are also a lot more drunk people here. They come up to us and ask us to talk about random drunk stuff that I really can't understand. One guy wanted to fight us. We were just walking with some food minding our own business, then we crossed the street and started walking behind this guy and his wife, he had a massive bottle of beer halfway gone. I thought to myself, " I wonder how drunk this guy is?" A second after this guy just turned around and started calling us really bad words. I just ignored him, and kept walking, and then he started to charge us, but his wife held him back. So me and Sanderson just walked away. Really interesting. But don't Mom, and Grandma I could have taken him.
But that's about it, nothing really thrilling. I just walk around thinking about Nacho Libre, telling people God has changed my life. It's awesome! This gospel honestly is just amazing, and I am so lucky to be here. Even though Spanish is difficult, Mexico is just fun! God has given me so much, so giving 2 years to him is really nothing. The times I get down out here is when I'm focused on myself. but the second I look at life from an eternal perspective serving God just makes sense. His love is the most desirable thing in the world. Everyone has the right to know that his gospel is back on the earth. But I sure love and miss all of you! I hope life is good for you guys, because it's too short to be sad.
