Finding Amigos
Howdy, howdy! I hope everyone's week was good. Ours was good, but really slow. Honestly there isn't a lot that went on this week. We cleaned our area book, so besides the three people we have on date, we are trying to find more people. And it's been pretty slow.
We had some fun days finding! One day we packed up bags full of pamphlets, and pictures of Jesus, and just went out for the whole day looking for the elect. We talked to literally everybody we saw, and told them that we had a special message for them. We would say it was literally only 2 minutes long. Then we told them we would even time it. After the little briefing, we would give the restoration in less than 2 minutes. It was pretty fun. But not a whole lot of people were interested. We contacted 35 people in the streets, and gave a 2 minute lesson to pretty much all of them. Sanderson really enjoyed it, he got to share the gospel in a really simple way, and so I think that helped build his confidence. And of course I was counting everyone we talked to, keeping stats. Even though it wasn't as effective as I thought, it was still a blast!
We also had a service project this week. It was for Vianca, one of the girls we have on date. The project really made me laugh, we had to move all of these ugily rocks, and concrete blocks out of the street, and into the backyard of this old lady. I have no clue why she wanted all of the rocks and blocks. It was really random. One thing I did learn from our project is that if you are doing manual labor, it is nice to have an Enterprise Utah farm boy with you. The kid is an ox.
Sunday was kinda funny, and sad. I'll explain. On Saturday we talked to this guy, and gave him our 2 min lesson. He said thanks, and walked away. Then on Sunday he walks in and sits by us. I am ecstatic, because I'm thinking this investigator wants to learn more! Then he pulls out a hymn book from his backpack, and I realize he is a member. He just didn't tell us when we gave him our message. Kinda funny. He is inactive, so it was still a good thing, it just made me laugh. Also Vianca couldn't come to church because of some family drama. That was really sad to me, because I can see it in her eyes that she really wants to join our church, but the devil put an obstacle in the way. So we'll get her there next week.
Sunday was also rough because Sanderson was sick. We were eating with the Elders Quorum President, and Relief Society President. We both feel like they just do not like us that much. And then Sanderson threw up. That did not help our case. But it was kind of funny.
Pretty slow, not going to lie, but still good. All I know is that I love God, and he loves me. His power is incredible. I'm so glad he lets me be a part of this great week! God is good, and the Atonement of Jesus Christ is literally everything! Love you guys!
