Buckets And Baptisms
Buenos, buenos todos! This week was really good, but we didn't really have a lot of time to work in our area, so that was a bit of a bummer. That's not too important though, because the Gladys Baptism was incredible! I'll talk about that a little later.
Tuesday was pretty disappointing. We had a full good day planned, and I was so excited to work, but right before lunch I got a call from Tlapacoyan saying they needed me to interview someone in their area for his baptism the next day. The guy couldn't do a video call, so I had to scratch the whole day just to drive all the way to Tlapacoyan, and have him not show up for his interview. That was mildly irritating, but my comp found some really good fruit, so it wasn't a total waste.
Thursday we had interviews with President in Xalapa, so I spent 6 hours traveling. My interview was really good! President is just hilarious! I love him so much. After interviews, me and my comp went to the mall, and ate American burgers! It was incredible! When it was time to go I was trying to get my comp out of the mall so we would get home on time, but it didn't work. So we showed up to the APs apartment at 9:50 in the night. That definitely wasn't my favorite moment.
Friday was conference! It was really good! I got to see all of my friends that are going home this next week! It's crazy to think that if I didn't wait a year, I would be going home with them. But I am honestly so glad I waited a year! God's timing is perfect. But it was fun seeing, and hearing all of my friends testimonies, they are some of the most powerful missionaries! After all of conference was done, we are Churches c
Chicken, talked, and took photos! It was a blast! Then we traveled back home. The bus ride from Xalapa to MartÃnez is famous for how bad it is. It has a ton of small twisty roads. The whole way back I was just so sick! I almost threw up 3 times, it was terrible! But at the bus station I got a McDonald's shake, so that was a privilege!
Sunday was the baptism of Gladys!! It was so incredible! It was also nice because our new ward mission leader is incredible, so we didn't have to stress about planning the baptism! But like every baptism Satan attacks. The Zone leaders filled the font for us, so everything was ready, and good when we arrived. At least we thought. As I was looking in the water I noticed a giant centipede was in the water! So as we tried getting it out, we made all the water super dirty. So we had to drain the font (the drain is terrible and takes 2 hours to drain), and then refill the font in less than an hour and a half. So I prayed for a miracle, we put the drain on, and then I got in the font with buckets, and started scooping away. It worked! We did everything we needed with time to spare! God is the God of miracles! The only thing is I didn’t realize the font was going to be the hardest part! When Gladys came to the Church, she was soon nervous! It took her forever to change because she had trouble calming down. So we gave her her time, took photos, and started the program. It was such a special program! And the room was packed with family, friends, and members! A week before, she asked me if she was going to get baptized. She wanted the room to be crazy full, so I was delighted. The time came for us to do the ordinance, and she was struck with fear! So before we got in the water, I said a prayer with her, and instantly I was filled with peace, and love. I knew the Lord was proud of Gladys for her decision. As I got in the water, I looked back, and she didn't want to get in. So I waited for about 3 min. Then she took my hand, and I performed the ordnance with no problem. She came up from the water with a look that was just priceless! She was glowing with joy! It was incredible! After the rest of the program was finished we went to the kitchen and ate hot dogs! I knew she was a true member, because she kept introducing me to her family, asking them if they wanted to be baptized. It was such a special evening! And I am just so happy the Lord let me be an instrument in his hand! He is just soo good!
I hope you all have great weeks, and can see the lord's hand in your life! He is just so good, and loves us so much! I love being his missionary! It's crazy to me that I am living in a country that doesn't have carpet, or hamburgers, speaking a language that I only kinda understand, but yet I feel a joy, and happiness that is undesirable! When I pray at night and reflect on all the miracles the Lord gave me that day, my stomach almost bursts because of the divine feeling of joy I receive! The love of God is the most desirable feeling in all the world! He has so much love for us, and I don't even know why! Being out here is by far the best decision I have ever made! And I testify that if you want to find true happiness, search for the Lord! And I promise you will find him if you read the Book of Mormon! I love you all and hope you are killing life!
