President Perkins
Buenos diaaaasss! I hope everyone had a great week! This week for me has been pretty busy, but really good. I am in an area where members really watch every thing the missionaries do, just waiting to catch us do something dumb. This is really hard because my Zone has so many problems, so we have dealt with a lot of problems this week. And that is always pretty hard to watch. So please just follow the rules, it's so much easier for everyone, and you get more blessed for it! Also I saw my president more times this week than I have probably seen him my whole entire mission. He is a really spiritual man, and he also is super funny!
Tuesday I went on divisions with some Elders struggling in their areas, and that was an absolute blast! I was with Elder Hernandez, and we just got to work! We visited a family who was just awesome, so we put 2 baptismal dates with the son, and Grandma! After having a couple hard weeks in our area, it felt good to get to work, and see success in an area struggling more than ours. Then after divisions we all met up after for Elote(Nacho Libre Corn), and went to sleep.
Wednesday we had Interviews with President! I did a lot of translating this time for the Mexicans that had their interviews with Hna Perkins. I honestly really enjoyed it, it is really fun to translate. My interview with President was about normal, nothing too fancy happened. And my interview with Hna Perkins was really good like always
Friday was Zone Conference! I love Zone Conference, it's always a blast seeing all of my friends, and hearing what the mission is expecting. We are really focusing on the doctrine of Christ, so I have loved learning about that! Afterwards, we ate Pizza and just hung out! One of the Elders in another Zone asked me if I could translate for him, because he wanted to talk with President. So I did, and it was really cool seeing President's spirit, he is just a powerful man.
Saturday was Stake conference, so we all met up at the Stake Center, and again President was there because of the conference. Also a 70 was there. The 70 was so funny! He was just roasting the whole Stake with love, humor, and the spirit. It really helped the missionaries case. Afterwards, me and my comp ordered pizza. My comp had his mom send him Mountain Dews, so we ate Buffalo pizza with Mountain Dew! It was the first time in over a year since I've had Mountain Dew!
Sunday was really good as well. We finished up Stake conference with some great talks. President gave one, and his talks are always crazy funny! There was a girl who was getting baptized that day, so president called her up to the stage in front of everyone, and told her to give her testimony. Then he told the whole Stake that she has more faith than all of us. It was really funny, but also powerful. After the meeting, everyone ran up to President and Hna Perkins like they were celebrities. Taking photos, and wanting the candy Hna Perkins was handing out to kids. One lady asked for a blessing, she was going to have a baby in a week. So we went with President to watch the blessing. The lady didn't know a lick of English, but she said she has faith in Christ, and knows President is a man of God. President gave the blessing in English, with the simplest words. It wasn't anything fancy, or elaborate. But the spirit was there testifying in such a unique and powerful way. This lady who didn't understand a word of her blessing, opened her eyes with tears streaming from her face. She felt the same spirit we did, and had her worries answered. Not by words, but by the spirit. It was such a cool experience to witness. After church, we visited the family that we are going to baptize next week, ate really good food, and then planned for the week.
On my mission I have realized that disciples of Jesus Christ all have the same purpose. Minister to the one. I know that my President didn't come to Papantla to give a talk, he came for that blessing. Everything we do is just kind of a side job, and if we listen to the holy spirit he will show us what we really need to do. Minister to the one. Jesus Is the same today, tomorrow, and forever. He always Ministered to the one, so why would things change? I have been really focusing on that lately. Finding the one, Ministering to the one. So that is my challenge to all of you. Look for the one. I know through the holy spirit you can find them. But I hope you all have a good week, and see the hand of God in your life. He is creative, and in the details.
