President Day??

Hey everybody, this week has been absolutely crazy! So many things went down, but thats just the mission life.

Tuesday I went on divisions With Elder Vásquez in the night! We went to a cita that was pretty far, not knowing what was going to happen. When we got there we found out it was totally worth it! This lady is the most positive lady I have ever met! She has so many bad things happening in her life right now, but yet she is just incredibly positive! She wants to find God, and raise her kids in a good religion! She is so ready to except the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Wednesday Elder Vásquez told me he wanted to learn how to contact better, so he asked me if I could practice with him. It was really funny because literally the first door we knocked let us in! It was such a tender mercy! We then switched back comps in the night, and called it a day. But the divisions were successful!

Thanksgiving! Honestly Thursday was a normal day. No one here cares about Thanksgiving, so we just had a day packed with citas! It felt really good going to lesson after lesson! Then in the night I talked to the family! It was a really good day!

Friday was absolutely crazy! We had a pretty normal morning, the only thing was that we had a devocional with Elder Montoya (70, president over Mexico) at 2:00, so we ate at 12:30. And the food was sooooo goooood! It tasted exactly like the sweet pork burrito that they have at Costa Vida! It was incredible! Then we went to the church for the devocional. It took them forever to start, but once they got started things escalated real quick! Elder Montoya told us that President Perkins and Hermana Perkins got honorably released from there calling because of medical reasons. And Elder Day is now President Day! He had just been set apart that morning to be the new President of the Mexico Xalapa Mission! Everyone was kinda in shock, but it makes a lot of sense. The Perkins haven't been in Mexico for a month now, because of these medical problems. Im really sad that they wont be my in the mission anymore, but I know its the right change. I also am really pumped for President Day! He is going to do such a great job! We went from that meeting to a interview. The Elders from Tajin are going to baptize next week! Then we had our last lesson with Keidy before her baptism! She is really hard to teach because she knows so much! The last lesson we had with her, she asked us to teach her about intelligence. So this one we decided to do a cool lesson about the Atonement! It turned out to be such a spiritual lesson! Everyone in the room could feel the spirit super strong! It was really cool! We then figured out some last minute things with her baptism, and went to sleep.

Saturday morning we woke, got ready, and went to clean the font. There we received a message from Keidy saying, "Hola!" And then right after it was a video of a kid screaming his lungs out on Christmas morning saying, "ES HOY! ES HOY!" waking up the whole family. It was funny because we felt her excitement, but the funniest part is that her brother told us thats literally what she did! She woke up screaming, and literally pushed all of her siblings out of bed because she was so exited!

We cleanded the font, started the water, and then had a cita with Sherey! Sherey is doing so good! I love having her share her spiritual experiences with us! She loves showing everyone her Book of Mormon, and the change she made! Her dad wants to learn about the gospel as well! So we just have to wait for him to get home from working in another state. After the lesson, we ate really good chicken, and then went to check on the font. We open it up, and there is literally no water! It was so empty! We checked the whole church, and there was no water! We called everyone we could, but no one could fix it in time for the baptism at 6! Luckily there was a baptism at the stake center at 6! So we called Keidy, and asked her if we could do it at the stake center at 7. She agreed, and we frantically called everyone to change the plans! Luckily it worked out perfectly! At 7 everyone showed up, and Keidy was literally jumping around with joy! She had waited one year and two months for this! We started the program, and there were so many people that not all of us could fit in the room! Some had to listen outside. But it was a beautiful program, and the spirit was there. I did the ordinance, and Keidy came out of the water glowing! It was really cool to see! We finished the service, and started to eat the food that some rich people brought. It was really good! I was talking to everyone enjoying life when 2 youth asked to talk to me and Beltrán for 2 minutes. They then started a stupid meeting with us  and took a lot of time away from me talking to the investigators at the baptism! By the time they finished, we had to go. I was pretty upset. There were so many investigators, and recent converts that I didn't talk too. I hate when dumb unproductive meetings waste my time. But we said goodbye to Keidy, and she was so happy, thats really all that matters.

Sunday was her confirmation! I love to see what happens when people receive the spirit! They just look so much happier, and have more light! Halfway through second hour, we got called to another dumb meeting! The worst part was that when we got out of the meeting, everyone had already left the building! So we didn't even get a chance to contact our investigators at church! I also didn't get to say goodbye to Sherey! She is leaving this week to Monterey, so I wont see her agian if I get transferred. It made me a bit sad, because she has changed so much in just over a month! After church we ate food, and then helped a family with service. It was really cool to see how much we helped them! I love doing service! We then sat and received a ton of references from this family, and the other people who helped! It was awesome! They also gave us homemade doughnuts, sooo yummy! We then did some visits, and went home.

It was a super good week! Two things have really stood out to me. Number one is the atonement of Jesus Christ! His atonement is super powerful! It is how we can overcome sin, faults, and stress, and struggles! All we have to do is call on his name, and he is there to help us! The second one is personal revelation! With the new change of Presidents, I asked God if it was right, and through personal revelation I have a testimony that President Day really does have the keys to my mission! God doesn't want blind followers, he wants followers who have testimonies through personal revelation, and experience that this church is true! So I would recommend asking him about any doubts you have, and he will respond! I love you all! And hope you have great weeks!
