Choose To Believe
Hey everybody, this week was packed full of miracles! Literally jammed packed! It was so incredible. And needed. It Started last Sunday when we had a devotional about faith. You have to believe in Christ, but also believe Christ. Believing Christ means Believing in what he has done for us, And the promises he has for us. Honestly I was really lacking in that until this devotional, so it was what I needed to hear. I was thinking about it a lot when President Day called me. He told me that he was praying, and felt like he needed to call me. He asked about the Zone, and if I thought the Zone understood his message. But me and God knew he called for me. It was really cool because I prayed for someone to break me out of the slump I was in. My problem was that I forgot that God's promises are true. So I started choosing to believe. As I went through the promises the Lord has for me. I came to the conclusion that I really wanted to find a family of 5. It's been my dream my whole mission. So I asked my comp if he wanted to find a family of 5. Of course he said yes, but I asked him again. This time I asked him if he really wanted to find a family of 5. He replied with the same answer. So in the night we both wrote down 5 of our favorite missionary sins that we do on paper, and offered it up as 5 things we will stop doing because we love God. That's how we started the week.
Tuesday was magical! We did service in the morning, it felt super good! Then we ate food in a little town in the middle of nowhere. We had some time to spare in this tiny town where only one member lives, so we decided to go to centro and plan. I had this feeling the whole time that I couldn't leave town yet, because there was someone waiting for us. Someone chosen. So we walked up this street until the spirit hit me as we passed a house. My comp was a bit ahead of me, so I had to call him back to the house I was stopped at. I then pointed at the house and told him that a family of 5 lives here, so we have to knock on the door! I rang the door bell, and this 16 year old girl walked out to meet us. She told us that her dad would like to meet with us, but that they don't live in the house we knocked on. They live a little ways down the road. I honestly wasn't buying her story until her Dad came out of the house to meet us. He told us that he lived in Salt Lake City for a while, and that he would love to talk to us! He set up his own appointment, and gave us his number! At this point I had to ask him! "How many people are in your family?" He then looked my comp right in the eyes, and paused, just like a movie! He then said, " we are 5 you know." HOW COOL IS GOD! We literally started that day, and God blessed us with a family of 5!!! We had aneurysms afterwards because we were freaking out so hard! We just praised God for his goodness, and for the blessings he gave us! He really is incredible! All we have to do is choose to believe! After that experience we took a trip to the neighboring city Hueyapan, to do some more good. There we found the Dad of someone we have been teaching. He took us around the whole city as our tour guide! We learned about all the history, and the language they speak there. The best part is that he introduced us to so many people! One of them was really interested in our message, and we have been teaching him all this week! That was another miracle! God blessed us so much! We found 6 people in the span of 2 hours! He is so good to me!
Wednesday was harvest day! We had 5 lessons, and taught everyone we found on Tuesday! It felt so good! All of our lessons went extremely well. One of the guys we are teaching is an Ex Mason, so he already knows quite a bit about Joseph Smith. He is really fun to teach because we don't teach lessons, we just answer his questions! It was super cool! Also the family of 5 is amazing as well! We taught them lesson one, and they really enjoyed it! We gave them a Book of Mormon, and the kids who are 10, and 15, have been reading! They are a complete miracle!
Thursday was a Mexican holiday that I still don't complete understand. It's like kings day, o something. I'm pretty sure it's about the wise men, but honestly quien sabe. I do know the tradition though, because I am absolutely stuffed from it! You buy a circle of bread, and everyone has to cut a piece off. The bread is delicious! But if you find a little toy boy in your bread you have to make everyone there tamales on February 3. We did two of those on Thursday, and sadly I'm making tamales. Then Friday we did it again! I lost again, so I have to make more tamales! Then Saturday We did 2 in one lesson! But one of the circles was made out of tacos! Its a really fun tradition, but it's a shame for all the Mexicans who have to try my tamales. They look a lot like hamburgers.
Friday! We are going to jump back to Friday because we had a super cool experience! We went to the rehabilitation center to teach the plan of salvation. It really was awesome! We walked in, and it was just a room full of Jesus. I felt his presence so strong there. There was about 15 people there, and all of them were ready to change. We ended the lesson, and for about an hour after the lesson we just answered questions. We only prepared a lesson for an hour but we had 2 to take up. So we talked about the BOM, and asked who wanted one. We only had 4, but all of the people there wanted one! We even gave one to the workers. The next day we dropped off 15 more books, and everyone in the center was reading them! Both the workers, and people in rehabilitation! It was really cool! The gospel really is for everyone!
This week really was just full of miracles! I chose to believe, and the results have been incredibly different. God really does bless us when we choose him! He is just to good to me! And I an so privileged to be able to preach his gospel! I love my savor, and know he with me everyday as I preach! My invitation is to just believe, through all your doubts out the window, and let God prevail! Because he does! I love you all so much, and hope you all have an incredible week! Also thank you all for the birthday wishes! I really appreciate all the support I have from you guys back home! 21 feels good!
